About the Author

Christopher Schaberg is Dorothy Harrell Brown Distinguished Professor of English at Loyola University New Orleans, USA. He is the author of seven books, including The End of Airports (2015), The Work of Literature in an Age of Post-Truth (2018), and Searching for the Anthropocene: A Journey into mostrar mais the Environmental Humanities (2019), all published by Bloomsbury. His writings on education and contemporary culture have been published in Inside Higher Ed, Sierra, Public Books, Slate, and The Atlantic, among other publications. An original approach to the Anthropocene. Christopher Schaberg investigates the loose ends of the Anthropocene that he stumbles upon in his daily life. Expect a range of short analyses of phenomena as diverse as cheesy gift shops, aircraft magazines, online advertisements and the movie 'Home Alone'. The first part, which concerns Lake Michigan, can feel a bit strained at times, as if Schaberg attempts to romanticize his experiences at the place. The second part, which concerns airports, is where his strength lies and in which he shows to the reader how airports can be taken as spot-on metaphors for the Anthropocene at large.… (mais)
