1. A girl looses her mom in a fire at her office. She wakes up in a hospital and the girl who absolutely hated her becomes her best friend, her sister, as she lost her mom too. In reality, I do not see this happening.
2. The high strung, sexually charged adults who take their kids on a camping trip. They act like a bunch of teenagers themselves.
3. The lead character's ability to jump from one boy to the next when the first one rejects her.
4.There is absolutely no contest to the killer that lurks within their midst. They are all pretty much helpless and do not put up much of a fight.
5.Where I enjoyed reading the campfire stories, the plot really does not pick up until halfway through or more. I found myself thinking, so when does this get really scary?
The ending left a lot left to be desired and the reader does not get a sense of closure from this book. I really wanted to like it, but this one really didn't do anything for me.

I liked this one alright but I was expecting more. It is very similar to the movie Scream in some ways which I did like but I also thought it was a little too predictable. It also took awhile for things to get started so it was a little slow in the beginning. Maddie was a little annoying at times. I hate that she constantly had men telling her they would protect and keep her save. She believed them and fell back on that instead of being more of a strong independent girl for herself. She got somewhat better by the end of the book but not by much. If you are looking for a good slasher read I suggest There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins, I liked that one much better.… (mais)

This book has a cover that is reminiscent of the Blair Witch Project, but a storyline reminiscent of a Blair Witch Snooze fes. I’m sorry to say this was just boring. It is supposed to be a YA horror novel, but I find it way more terrifying that James Patterson says to read this. But then again Patterson is so forumalic that in and of itself is horrifying.

The premise of this book is quite fun. A Group of family and friends take a week camping in the mountains. They tell stories around the campfire on a full moon, which makes the story come to life. And of course, what do you tell around the campfire, scary stories. The stories the campers tell are not that bad. I liked the red bird one the best. However, this set up takes 200 pages! This book is just a little over 300. When the action finally starts happening, it happens quick with little description, and the description is just campers coming across dead members of their party, not running for their own lives. I think this would have worked better as a horror movie rather than a book. Somewhere where the reader could see the gore, since I find it is not described well.

Plus the ending...oh please. The thing with the adults was seen a mile away. It was no surprise. As for who the killer is, one I guessed, one I was close, but the big reveal was like I had already watched Scream 100 times and knew the outcome. So predictable.

While there is not really a way to have a sequel, I might read something else by this author as long as they stay away from horror. Maybe more mystery, less thriller.

Not a work of a literary genius but Campfire was a fun, crazy, horror read.

A group of family and friends go camping in the middle of nowhere with a guide. At night, the group begins telling scary stories around the campfire, including the guide. The guide’s story deals with creepy mountain men who leave marks on their victims. The next day, it appears that the guide’s story is coming true.
