This book is much about Abrar as it is about Guru Dutt. People hardly remember today that he was director of iconic 'Sahib, Biwi aur Gulam' - a fact that is often contested by people citing he was a front while Guru Dutt was ghost director. A criticism that rankles to him to this day.

Book is well-written, the stories flow so well that I finished it in one sitting. Book is about journey of youth into world of cinema, film-making (sometimes), people he worked with, his relationship with his mentor and friend, Guru Dutt. It is by no means a book that you should pick up to find what assailed Guru Dutt or what darker demons were that got to him in the end.

A book I would recommend movie (and lovers of its history) should read.… (mais)
