I thought the "Amazon" description of this book did such a good job that I have copied it here:

"In the final book of Trudy Samsill's Christian fiction novels, Alaska's Aleutian Island Series, follow the stories of Rose and Gabe, Ed and Jade, Yuri and Luka, and other beloved characters from Rescued (Book 1) and Returned (Book 2). You will fall in love with the younger men and women as they struggle to determine the plan for their futures, and with the older characters while they seek to find out what remains with the rest of their lives. This series is filled with hope, inspiration, romance, struggles, and real life issues among the backdrop of 1960's Alaska's fictional Datka Island."

I liked the final story in this series the best. The author did a great job of bringing closure to many different stories going on in this series. As one reviewer said so well regarding this series: "Great truths were woven into the stories and each story resonated with hope" (and redemption). A well written series that I would encourage all to read, but please do it in the order written. It really read as one big story as each book picked up where the other one left off. And I also appreciated the covers and the author's note at the end, giving all glory to God.

This is the second book in this series, and it is set in 1968 in Alaska. You will continue to follow Rose (who you met in book one), as she finds out who she really is. She continues to have strong feelings for the American missionary, Gabriel Parker, but will their differences keep them apart?

"Work on Datka Island gets underway as the missionary team helps restore the Island after several young men destroyed homes and the school. These young men, one including Rose's brother, Andrew, spend the next few months running away from the destruction they caused, which only leads to further pain for the inhabitants of Datka." (from Amazon review)

You will also watch two on the missionary team. Ed and Jade as they continue to clash. They try to work together and figure out their true feelings for each other. You also have the Alaska State Troopers to deal with (some good and some bad), and the whole Datka community, as they struggle to do what is right for their island and their young people.

There is a lot going on in this well told story (and series). I appreciate how even the missionaries are human and have problems they need to resolve in their hearts and minds. It has been an interesting story so far and I look forward to the final story in this series next, "Redeemed".

'Rescued' is Book 1 of a three book series; (books 2 & 3: 'Returned' and 'Redeemed').

Living on Datka Island, Alaska, Rose and her family and their community face a lot of challenges and hardships. Her brother and his friends are entering a world of drinking and promiscuity, that will affect the entire Island, and bring harm to its inhabitants. A group of missionaries to their island will show up with relief and aid after a fire does damage to their community. It is the beginning of hard work for the missionaries and the Aleutians on Datka.

Rose is a beautiful, young, Aleutian lady and Gabriel, in his early twenties, is one of the missionaries sent to help. Gabe works with his parents and other American missionaries to bring aid and relief to their beloved Alaskan friends. Gabe and Rose will have an instant attraction to each other. This was a story that left you knowing there was more to the story. It ended kind of abruptly for me, but I am sure it will pick up where it left off in book two. Loved the cover for this book!
