Deals with slanders to the Christian faith about science, evolution, (inevitably) but more interestingly about the environment, witches, and about missionaries. His thesis is that in most cases accusations are not fairly against Christianity but against Greek thought, or Theology contaminated with Plato, and furthermore that the Reformers by returning to the bible were much less guilty than the church generally, and that the Enlightenment in many ways returned to Greek errors. Post modernism is seen as a return to ancient animistic or Nature religion ideas.
Generally convincing and widely referenced, it could do with being more widely discussed. There's lots to think about here.

It is rather ironic to see this evangelical defending the reputation of the Catholic church even as regards the Inquisition and slavery.… (mais)
