The Modern Medallion Workbook contains quilts that can be created step by step as outlined in the eleven project sections or can serve as an inspiration and jumping-off point. There are projects that have the aspects of "classic" medallions updated and constructed using today's fabrics and some innovative blocks. Other projects are modern in every sense. The photographs and color diagrams are sharp, clear, colorful and easy on mature eyes. Experienced quilters will be able to readily follow the narrative, while keeping the diagram in front of them, to construct bands, blocks and other components. Beginning quilters may need some online or in-person assistance to sew some of the blocks, but should be successful once they try a few test blocks as detailed in the tips and techniques chapter. The line drawing section of the book is invaluable for trying out various color schemes before buying or cutting or combining fabrics.
