A careful scholarly examination of what is known about Hekate. It seems to amount to very little and concentrated mostly in the 5th cent. BCE. Few inscriptions, some statues and depictions on vases, etc. Hesiod's description in Works and Days seems something of an anomaly.

Not a scholarly book: flawed biblio and cites. Simplistic interpretations and the exclusions of evidence that do not support premise. Overall, a rough work.

Really fascinating stuff. Brings together bits from many different sources. Simple black and white drawings are a nice complement to the text. Physically a nice book, well bound, nice end papers.
