Celine is the first of this author's historical romances set in 19th century New Orleans. I actually read "Felice" first, then "Josette", so I'm a bit out of order. I do like how all the stories kind of weave together, as characters that appear in this story are the main characters of future novels. Celine was an interesting character, and I enjoyed her steamy interactions with Trevor. I was not as fond of Trevor as I am of the male characters in the other novels, as I found he had some undesirable traits, and I found their love developed too fast for my tastes. Notably, she spent a few days with him, and then barely saw him for weeks before they briefly reunited. She knew the man less than 6 weeks, and spent months apart from him with a completely different man, though these scenes to the end are skimmed over in light detail. . Despite the negatives I have outlined, the story itself was quite good, and I enjoyed the setting and characters immensely.… (mais)

This novel provides an immersive story set in 19th century New Orleans. I enjoyed this novel a fair bit - particularly when Felice and Rene showed up, as I actually read Felice first. Cameron and Josette have an interesting back-and-forth, and I loved the Thibodeaux family dynamics and overall Voodoo story. I did find their affection for one another grew a bit fast, but not unrealistically so. I preferred "Felice", but I very much would recommend Josette as well to anyone who loves historic romance, as the author has done a very good job weaving an immersive setting and romantic tale. I love the Andrews-Thibodeaux family drama and dynamics, and look forward to reading "Lily"!… (mais)

This was quite a fun read, with the main characters having a history together but unable and unwilling to admit their feelings for one another, it gave a good, slow burn. I quite enjoyed the setting of mid-19th century New Orléans and the ethnic dynamics between Cajuns, Creoles and Americans. There were moments that definitely made me laugh, and it was an overall enjoyable read. It would be 5 stars if not for a few historical errors that cropped up, which was my only issue with the novel.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a page turner to be sure. I am new to this author and the series. The first 2 books in the series, [b:The Seduction of Sarah Marks|22181601|The Seduction of Sarah Marks (Those Magnificent Malverns, #1)|Kathleen Bittner Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1400634454s/22181601.jpg|41529889] and [b:Portrait of a Forbidden Lady|29490971|Portrait of a Forbidden Lady (Those Magnificent Malverns, #2)|Kathleen Bittner Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1457807508s/29490971.jpg|49583608] are already on my tbr list. The story is fast paced, it's hilarious in parts and is well written. The characters are believable and they meshed very well.

Ridley Malvern could very well be my newest book boyfriend. He is handsome (of course), patient, intellectual, and HE READS TO HER!!.... An all around great guy. I absolutely fell in love with him.

Lainie MacGregor is a spitfire with a head on her shoulders. She's funny, talented, strong and determined.
I would recommend this book to anyone that loves Highland romances.
