Laurie Rosenwald uses poetry and vibrant colors in this concept book about all the different colors that we can see. I thought making this story a poem was a brilliant idea and she did a fantastic job of flowing from one color to the next. She uses a collage style of pictures to illustrate her points, which was a bit noisy but successfully gets the idea across to students.

Students will not only learn about different objects and their various colors, but different emotions that can be associated with colors, which I thought was really neat. She explains that you can be green with envy, and that feeling blue means that you are feeling sad. What a cute and creative way of introducing all the colors in the rainbow!… (mais)

This colorful, shout out loud book is a feast for the eyes. Rosenwald uses collage illustrations and humorous rhyming text to describe the many colorful things in our world. Each color gets the chance to shine with witty rhymes such as this ode to green, “Olive trees pickles peas. But don’t eat it, please, if you find it on cheese.”

Preschool to elementary school age kids are the perfect audience for this book because they’ll really enjoy the clever, humorous rhymes.

Some of the rhyming text seems a bit forced, but young children will likely get a kick out of the silliness of this book. The illustrations are bright and dynamic and feature drawings, photographs and objects in a collage style. Recommended for public library collections which serve preschoolers.… (mais)
