William Owen Roberts

Really liked the first part, describing life in pre-revolution Petrograd. Then it became increasingly difficult to stay interested as the book became more sketchy and I finally gave up before the end as I didn't really care anymore at what was to follow. I'm afraid it won the "Llyfr y flwyddyn" prize mainly because Cymru/Wales is totally absent from the book (and I can live with that). I found the competing Teulu Lòrd Bach a better read even if though it is a much more "traditional" Welsh novel about life around the quarries. Starting Pentigily now.… (mais)
