About the Author
Janet Riehecky received her B.A. in English Education from Illinois Wesleyan University, an M.A. in Communication from Illinois State University, and an M.A. in English Literature from Northwestern University. She has held a variety of jobs, including teacher and editor, but has always found time mostrar mais to write. In 1988 she published her first book, Sharing, and has gone on to publish many popular titles, including her twenty-four volume series on Dinosaurs, which won the Summit Award for Best Children's Nonfiction, and the Red Door Detective Club Mystery Series for intermediate readers. She is also a popular speaker in elementary schools, where she does two presentations, one that includes tips for kids on writing and one about Dinosaurs. Since 1998, she has been the National Coordinator of "Kids Love A Mystery," a literacy outreach of Mystery Writers of America. She is also a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, the Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, The Dinosaur Society, and the Society of American Magicians. Excuse Me (Manners Matter) de Janet Riehecky
I wasn't looking forward to reading a book that lectures children on manners. This book is not a lecture. It gives a great list of times when using the words excuse me is appropriate and it follows the excuse me with an explanation. Saying excuse me isn't always enough. If you say excuse me I didn't mean to step on your toe instead of a curt excuse me (with attitude in the tone), then you are apologizing properly. There is nothing worse than an insincere apology. They drive me nuts!!. There is an activity at the end of the book that teachers or school counselors can use. There is a list of synonyms but the reading level of the synonyms seems higher than the reading level of the book. Overall this is a great book on manners.… (mais)

Maybe I wouldn't hate the topic of dinosaurs so much if I had had books like this to teach from as a beginning teacher.
On the pages of Megalodon both English and Spanish is written. Great for begin learner of English or Spanish. Large picture matching the text. "Simple text and Illustrations present megalodon, their body parts, and behavior-in both English and Spanish."
