Another good Osprey book which packs a decent amount into 48 pages. The illustrator's (Stephen Walsh) work looked familiar and turns out he also he also did the art for the Settlers of Catan games.

Covers in brief detail the German forces in Togoland, Cameroon, German SW Africa, China and the Pacific Islands. Most of the book deals, as it should, with the forces of Lettow-Vorbeck in German East Africa which was by far the most important of the German colonies.

A good primer in English on one of the world's truly obscure wars. Typical Osprey in fashion, it gives a decent historical background, analyses the action and then reviews the uniforms, weapons and equipment of the participants. The illustrations are adequate and the text is lively and thorough.
For a more in-depth examination of the war, try The Green Hell by Adrian English.

I found this booklet mediocre in terms of order-of-battle information, so be warned if you're buying it sight unseen. I was looking forward to this publication in the hopes that I'd finally get a good tabular OB for the Spanish forces involved; guess again. Granted that the details of uniforms is the main point of this series, De Quesada doesn't even do that good a job with summarizing the force structure of the American troops involved.
