I enjoyed this book, but I had mixed feelings about it. This informational book was about baby seals and some of the facts about baby seals. What I really like about this book is that it was very relatable. For example, the facts discussed were things that young readers could compare to their own lives. One example of this is how many times a seal eats in a day. The book says they eat six or seven times a day. A child could compare that to their own lives and say that they eat about three times a day. I also like that the book follows one seal and gives her a name. Instead of repeated, "seals" and baby seals," the author writes "Slippidy," "she," and "her." What I didn't like about this informational book is that there wasn't any extra textual features such as captions or a glossary. I just think other features besides the photographs could have really improved the book.… (mais)
