Roger Pearce (1)

My first exposure to Roger Pearce, may also be my last. This, apparently is the third book in an established DCI John Kerr series and has a very complex plot. Whereas the subject matter is very topical - terrorism, bombs in London, IRA suspects, the EU Referendum etc., the book is clearly written expecting a movie take-up in the near future. I can see already the amount of commercial backing with Product Placements getting a mention on almost every other page.

Yes, it's exciting enough in places and a real page turner, but like a previous reviewer on Amazon, I find the concept of a motor scooter being stuck in a traffic jam, hard to believe. There is clearly a lot of insider knowledge divulged in the story which gives it a lot of authenticity – I'm assuming he was granted security clearence to divulge so much.

The book was purchased at an airport bookshop for holiday reading, served it's purpose well enough and I might be tempted to acquire another on the basis of Buy-One-Get-One-Free – if the Roger Pearce book is the 'Free' one.… (mais)
