This is a pretty traditional textbook, vocabulary followed by grammar followed by translation exercises. It's not designed for people who want to speak the language from day one--you don't find greetings covered in early chapters, like in many modern foreign language textbooks. Instead, there is an emphasis on increasingly elaborate grammatical structures.

This is an approach that appeals to my style of language learning, but it won't be for everyone. If what you want is the opportunity to speak the language right away, there are other textbooks out there that will serve you better. If, on the other hand, you want to be able to read written Irish, or write it yourself, this is a good resource.… (mais)
