This one was kinda blah, there was a lot going on but everything seemed to come together way too easily and predictably.

A very good followup to Imperium, the first book in this series--I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars but settled on 4 for a couple of reasons. Olivo's writing is fast-paced, lively, and extremely enjoyable to read, and I just love these characters. With a lot of look-alike stories on the market today, these are definitely unique and memorable. What I didn't like about this book won't stop me from reading another one.

MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD: My only quibbles with this book are plot-related. I was very annoyed with Vincent at the way he got into trouble in this book--he signed the contract in far too cavalier a manner when all his instincts should have been screaming at him to run away. I think as a character he's smarter than this, and I hated to see him do something dumb for the sake of advancing the plot. I also felt that he should have questioned the Keepers' definition of "fine"--because locking someone away in stasis really doesn't make them "fine" in any sense of the word. I felt that they broke the contract right there, but it *never came up.* Even if they had argued about the definition--but it seemed like such an obvious thing to not even address.

However, these issues nothwithstanding, I did enjoy the book and read it quickly. A great series and I hope there'll be more!

I hadn't heard about this book until I saw a friend give it a high recommendation, so I put it on my reading list. It took me a little while to get around to it, but I totally enjoyed it when I did! If you like urban fantasy, myths, gods, supernatural creatures, and secret societies, this book is definitely for you. Despite throwing a lot of elements into the mix, the author does a great job of making it all work together, and keeping it fun and fast-paced. While the threats to the MC are real, this is not a dark and brooding book, which I particularly liked. The MC has some very interesting things going on in his life, which make for lots of nice complications. I'll look forward to reading more of the Caulborn series.… (mais)

This is a fast and fun story about a half -God named Vincent. He works at a secret agency, think Men in Black but not for aliens but for paranormal creatures such as vampires, golems, ghosts, etc. His girlfriend is a golem, but a sexy one. He also has a new partner who he is showing the ropes to.
Someone is kidnapping paranormal residents. Rumor is they are experimenting on them. Vincent and his new partner are looking into it.
Meanwhile, someone is trying to kill off his residents in his world where he reigns.
Someone is trying to kill him on the world he works. He has very limited power there.
Lots of action, great characters and plot, world building, and magical use. Fun book to read! Enjoyed it thoroughly!
The narrator performed wonderfully!
