Treasures of the Eastern Shore is a personal account of relic hunting on the DelMarVa peninsula. From the dunes of the Atlantic coast, westward over the flat fertile fields, to the gentle shores of the Chesapeake Bay there are undiscovered treasures to be found by the enterprising metal detectorist. The peninsula abounds in potential historical sites from the early twentieth century homes to land tracts that predate colonial times. Everything from Victorian era relics to Spanish reales can be found here on the Eastern Shore. The author, Andy Nunez, along with his metal detecting friends and enthusiasts has uncovered many sites rich in the history of DelMarVa. No one is out to get rich or live off their new found treasure. That’s not what relic hunting is about. These men and women are out to find and preserve the relics of our historic past that might otherwise never come to light, while at the same time preserving the integrity of the land. These men and women follow a strict code of that sees them always getting permission to dig on any land, removing any trash they may uncover and returning the land to its natural state by filling any holes or plugs they may dig out of respect for the landowners and the environment.
