Pequena biografia
Pamela Nissen is an award-winning author with a love for creating. Whether characters, cooking, scrapbooking or other artistic endeavors, she delights in putting things together for others to enjoy. While homeschooling her children in 2000, she started handwriting her first novel, and after finally stepping into the computer age, she won first place in the 2007 Heart of the Rockies Inspirational Romance category. Since then she hasn't looked back.

Pamela lives in the woods in Iowa with her husband, two boys, her Newfoundland dog, cats and one churlish bunny. She loves watching her children pursue their dreams and can be found cheering on the sidelines at her boys' games or being moved to tears as she watches her grown daughter perform on stage. If she's not writing or serving lattes at the local Starbucks, she enjoys scrapbooking weekends with her sister, coffee and conversation with friends and running in the rain. Having glimpsed the dark and light of life, she is passionate about writing "real" people with "real" issues and "real" responses.

Ivy Harris returns home to Boulder Creek to visit her ailing father. She has been estranged from him for many years, ever since her mother's death, when her father sent her away to New York to go to school. When Ivy arrives home at Boulder Creek she meets old school friend Zach Drake (who has been in love with Ivy for years). Zach is the new foreman on her father's ranch. Ivy can't get over the changes in Zach. He was skinny and stuttered when she went away, now he is big, and strong, and sure of himself. Zach got rid of his stutter, but it seems to be cropping up again, but only when he is with Ivy. Ivy wishes she and her father can become close again, like they were years ago. But her father is still abrupt with her and won't talk to her (or anyone) about his sickness. While Ivy stays at the family ranch she discovers that someone is out to destroy it. Cattle are sick and some are missing/stolen, a barn burns down, fences are being cut... who could be behind this?

I really liked the hero Zach. He was nice, and kind, and thoughtful. He had a pet owl named Buddy. He had a rough time in his childhood, always being picked on for his stuttering. But he made an effort to make some changes in his life. Heroine Ivy was sweet, but sometimes she did some silly and stubborn things. I did feel bad for her, regarding her relationship with her father. Her father shouldn't have been so unfeeling to Ivy for all those years. He was mourning the death of his wife at that time and kept pushing Ivy away, partly blaming Ivy for her mother's death.

The other characters in this book were likable and interesting. Some characters have featured stories in other books in this series ("Rocky Mountain"). Their kids were cute.

This was a sweet and pleasant read.
