A very cute and quick read. I loved how Logan and Bronte met and had to go through to survive. The situation created a bond between them that was intensified by their attraction and chemistry. They both had to learn to deal with their own insecurities so they could truly be together. I truly enjoyed it.

Team Beast

This was a great take on Beauty and the Beast. I felt so bad for Hunter, he thinks secluding himself is what’s best for the rest of the world because he has scars everywhere and thinks himself to be hideous. Gretchen can see beneath his insecurities and scars to find a kind and loving man. It was sweet.

I'll be thoroughly candid--I read this book because the cover is HOT. Let's list why: its blue tones. The guy looks sexy--barest hint of stubble, bedroom eyes, possessively wrapped around the female. I like the chick's 'I'm seduced despite myself' look. So yeah. The cover basically is what made me read this book. To be clear that doesn't happen often--I like covers, and some covers catch my attention, but rarely (outside of the fantasy genre) do covers make me want to read a book desperately.
Or at least to all hours of the night despite the fact I have work in the morning fairly early.

I should point out I had no idea that this was a pseudonym for Jill Myles, not until I went looking for the release date of the next book in the series and saw the pic and was like 'now wait a minute!'.

There's a couple of things I didn't care for very much; the mystery of who was hunting Bathsheba was pretty obvious and after Arabella's explosive meeting with Bathsheba I kind of even guessed at that secret. This isn't a crack at Sims' writing, I think its more a symptom that when you read as much paranormal and urban fantasy as I do, some plotlines stand out more obviously. I didn't like Giselle and I was more than happy to read of how the tables are turned on her.

What I liked--and the list is longer--was that Beau kept such a...positive attitude throughout the book. Not chipper optimistic or overly dominating, more like he had a single-minded determination to convince Bathsheba and nothing stood in his way. This didn't keep him from offering her a chance out--at least as far as that particular week went--which went a long way to marking him as a different sort of Alpha.

Bathsheba for her part didn't waffle around. She didn't give lame excuses, she didn't talk a good fight and then not back it up. She had good reason not to trust Beau's kind, despite her job, and even better reasons not to date him. Communication, as always in romances, was lacking between the two, but I felt like it wasn't just contrived. I do think it went on longer then it should have, there came a point in the story when I felt Bathsheba should have just thrown caution to the wind and dealt with the devil she knew instead of fumbling to make things better, but in the end I loved this book.

The next book is about Bathsheba's sister and let me just say it looks like she doesn't sit idly around waiting for her mate to sit up and recognize the roses.
