Whisper on the water de E. P. Murray
This is a re-read. I loved this when I was in my mid-teens. Now I find it slightly trite but still interesting.
"In The Arms Of The Sky" by Earl Murray was quite the enjoyable read! This novel is based on the true story of the life of the Englishwoman Isabella Lucy Bird. It takes place in the Colorado Territory in the 1870's. Isabella is definitely a woman ahead of her time. She travels the world alone and writes of her adventures, that are then posted in local newspapers. Her latest journey take her to Estes Park at the foot of Longs Peak. Along the way, she meets the notorious outlaw, Jim Nugent who agrees to join her. A romance develops, which adds a nice twist to Mr. Murray's storyline.
I live in Colorado, so the references to Ms. Bird's travels during the 1870's added to my enjoyment of this novel. Besides the setting, Mr. Murray did a fantastic job of developing both the plot and characters. The novel flows effortlessly from chapter to chapter.
If you are a fan of historical fiction, I would definitely add this novel to your list of "must reads"… (mais)
