Really great, quirky little book about the daily life of bus drivers, and their animating philosophies. Was a touch existential and surreal, but in a very, very gentle way.

It's like a 300-page joke with 100-page setup and 200-page punchline. You already got it, but the author goes on and on with it, without any surprises at all. It is well-written, so it will keep you entertained, there are some excellent tiny details, but the book, in general, is really obvious and predictable. It is not bad, but I can't recommend it to anyone.

As a veteran bus traveller, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was deadpan and absurd and at the same time felt 100% accurate, probably because Mills himself works as a bus driver. The ending was perfect. Highly recommended.

The effect is the same: as a reader you have to really occupy the world in order to understand what's going on. This means that subtle shifts become legible and surprises are real surprises.… (mais)
