First, I won this book from a Goodreads First Reads give-a-way. It was really hard for me to get into this book because of how unbelievable it seemed. I think Meronek writes exceptionally well, the plot would have been much better if I had believed it could happen.

This book started off pretty good then went south. I really thought I was going to enjoy it, but it just bored me after a while. It was kind of hard for me to finish. It was too wordy and I did not like the main character.

Peter Jackson wanted to escape his white trash family in Tennessee to start a singing career in New Orleans. But he falls asleep on the bus taking him there when it is in a terrible accident. Peter is the only survivor and is badly burned. His burns soon vanish and he has many questions. Especially, since his life is going the way he had always dreamed, mostly.
I liked the premise and Peter also. The story unfolded rather quickly and I understood the reality of it all before the ‘surprise’ ending. It wasn’t hard to figure out what was happening. Don’t get me wrong, it certainly is a good story with so much going on. Some of the characters were better than others and the pace made it easy to read it quickly. I have to say this wasn't my kind of book, I got it because it said it would be a mystery and a thriller, which it is not. Others on here have listed what they didn't like about it, so I won't go into it. I gave it a three stars because it may not be my type of book, it doesn't mean others won't enjoy it, but it's just not my type of genre. I don't like books that are mostly romance so I just couldn't like this book.
