The "Learn Spanish" book is a collection of web links tied together by short narrative passages explaining how Spanish works and then sending you to outside websites to learn. The whole thing is only about 25 pages. Mr. McMurphy's English grammar is faulty and the information on the structure of Spanish can be found free in innumerable other places.
The "Spanish Vocabulary" book is even worse. It starts like any other language book with the alphabet and pronouns (listing but not explaining the very important formal pronouns). The problems with typos and missing information continues. Then Mr. McMurphy moves on to verbs. He mentions that verb conjugation exists, then presents a longish list of common verbs, all in the infinitive. He gives no instruction or information at all on conjugation, and then leaves verbs and moves on to another topic. The remainder of the book is short vocab lists like colors, telling time and other stuff. The lists are ridiculously short – 10 fruits and 10 vegetables, for example.
Do not waste your money on this book, instead buy books put together by professionals and tested over time. If you want to study Spanish or other languages, or a pick up quick tourist phrase book, you can't go wrong with language books by Barrons. They are the ones I use when I tackle a new language. I love their IDIOMS series.
I received a review copy of "Spanish: Spanish Vocabulary - Maximize Your Spanish Learning - Everyday Spanish Words And Phrases Plus Practice Exercises (NOW WITH FREE GIFT INSIDE) ... Spanish Learning, Italian, French, German)" by Alan McMurphy (Amazon Digital Services).
The review copy I received was not an ARC but was a download of the package that is being sold by Amazon, complete with typos and incredibly bad grammar.
The Free Gift in the package is a scam for Mr. McMurphy to get your email address. Give him your info and he'll send you something called: "Twenty Tips To Help You Become In A Polyglot". I kid you not, that is the title.… (mais)
