After the first 60 pages.

Tedious turgid crap. As a matter of principle I don't take recommendations from the sort of person who goes to book clubs. I suppose I deserve what I got.

I could do this as a pair with the City of Thieves - both about a 'writer' deciding that his book will be about somebody who survived WWII. There the two part company. After the first sixty pages of this book nothing has happened. NOTHING!! If there is a story to come, I can't be arsed waiting for it.

City of Thieves has action, characters, hilarity in spades before sixty pages are up. The Informers has nothing except an angst-driven discussion of the author's relationship with his wanky father.

Should I observe that I don't seem to be able to bear Spanish writers? Every now and then I take another shot at one. Always to my regret.

This book was fantasy because it had a variety of unusual animals ride a bus. The medium may have been markers.
The point of view was limited-third person because while it showed everyone get on the bus, it did not show their thoughts.
