Pequena biografia
[excerpted from author's website]
I have taught pattern design. I have also had the opportunity to design costumes for a number of stage shows and teach costume design and the history of costumes. In the early 1990s I had the opportunity to write two articles for Threads magazine. I taught pattern design through San Francisco Community College's adult education program. In addition to my R&D in patternmaking, in January of 2008 I started my own online school, Patternmaking with Don McCunn.

This book is a gem.
The (1973) hardback copy I own uses classic examples for most of the illustrations. A few may seem dated (flares and long collar points) but the main strengths of this book is that it teaches, clearly, how to draft a pattern which you modify to the style you wish.
With clear, step by step, instructions which actually EXPLAIN the why and wherefore of doing things the way they are done, this book can hardly be bettered for someone who wants to make clothes that actually FIT instead of buying commercial patterns and spending time tweaking and fiddling to get them comfortable.
The only criticism I could make is that 'How to make your own sewing patterns' doesn't cover fitting problem figures in detail, but in all honesty that is material for specialist study, and by drafting your own patterns from scratch you're starting ahead of the game anyway.
