You can go home again…but sometimes it’s hard. Emily thought she would never return to her hometown, to the drama and tragedy that had beset her younger life. She thought that was all behind her…until an email from her former best friend, Ali ignited her memories and all her fears.

What follows is a suspenseful psycho-thriller. Ali has disappeared. Has she met with foul play? Is she dead? Where is she? Even though Emily has not heard from her in fifteen years she must find out. To do so, she must journey to her old hometown and confront long-dormant emotions, animosities, and relationships, most of which are unresolved. She finds that others have unresolved emotional issues involving her as well.

Emily is a mess of unresolved past emotional traumas, including an unsuccessful marriage to an abusive man she has not seen in years. Is he behind Ali’s disappearance? Is he the one with access to Ali’s house, and Emily’s vacation cabin? Does he have the chutzpah and the means to threaten their daughter?

Who knows? Only readers will know for sure as they clutch the edge of their seats while reading this suspenseful story.

This is a phenomenal debut from NC Marshall that had me gripped from start to finish. I had chosen this book as my lunchtime read but after about a third of the way in, it became my morning, noon and night read. As Nat digs into Jess's life and Jess's secrets are uncovered I absolutely refused to take my eyes off this book. It's so beautifully written that it's hard to believe it's a debut novel and for that I must applaud the author!

It was a fascinating analysis of the relationship between two sisters that continued beyond the grave. Nat thought she knew everything about Jess; they were close, they confided in each other but when Nat investigates Jess's death she questions whether she actually knew her sister at all.

There are certainly more gasp out loud moments in this book than I ever imagined. From family secrets being revealed to ghostly manifestations, this book had me holding my breath on the edge of my seat with my heart beating out of my chest. I expected a family story of love and loss but there's a very clever thriller bubbling under the surface of this book that successfully managed to surprise me, as I was pointing my finger at completely the wrong person! I'm not going to reveal any secrets buried within the wonderful pages of this book, but I am confident that you won't be disappointed when you read it for yourself.

With a twist that I didn't see coming at all, I heartily recommend this book and will be looking forward to more books from NC Marshall.

I received this e-book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved NC Marshall's debut, Sleep Peacefully, and named it in my top 20 reads of 2015. So when I was absolutely delighted to be offered the chance to read this new book.

See You Soon starts with a tantalising prologue that whipped the wind right out of my sails, leaving me with the question 'who is the 'me' in the prologue?'. NC Marshall very cleverly waits to the end to reveal the answer to that question, ensuring that I raced through See You Soon like Usain Bolt in the 100m sprint.

Emily moved away to the North East from the little seaside town of Sandbroke, losing touch with her schoolfriends. Out of the blue, she receives an email from Ali, an old friend, saying that she's in trouble and begs Emily to help her. When Emily receives no response from Ali, she calls the police and her worst nightmare begins - she must return to Sandbroke, the town that holds difficult memories and the key to her secrets. When Ali checks into the local Holiday Park, she is relieved that Rose, the owner, doesn't recognise her despite them going to the same school. Then Rose hands Emily a note that was left for her...a note from Ali with a key to her house. As Emily follows the trail and receives more notes from Ali, you could feel her moving closer and closer to danger and I couldn't remove my eyes from the page for even a second.

Emily's fear of returning to her hometown was written so vividly that it was palpable, but she must have been really good friends with Ali at school to push through her fear and return. What a lovely thought that is; time and distance can't break friendships forged in your early years. Emily is very guarded and doesn't want to get too close to the past she ran away from, but secrets don't stay buried for ever.

See You Soon is a really gripping, suspenseful read. I felt like I was holding my breath in anticipation throughout the whole book, so thankfully it's not a long book! I would never have guessed the final twist and I had a wee tear in my eye reading the epilogue. NC Marshall is a very talented author; her writing is so vibrant and suspenseful with sublime twists. I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more from her, and I certainly can't wait.

In my reading life I have found that there is one thing that you can always guarantee: NC Marshall will write a page-turning book that you can't bear to put down for a second. The Wrong Turn follows in the footsteps of NC Marshall's previous BRILLIANT books, Sleep Peacefully and See You Soon, that stick to your hand like glue until you turn the final page.

It starts with a bang as Megan is run off the road by an unknown driver and rescued from the flames by a mysterious stranger. Megan doesn't know who rescued her but he leaves behind his jacket and it has a key in the pocket. Megan just needs to find the lock it fits and she can find the man who rescued her, but she has no idea that she will find a lot more than she bargained for.

As Megan and her friend follow the clues to Megan's rescuer, they don't realise that they are putting themselves in danger. The same man who tried to run Megan off the road wants her dead and will stop at nothing to get his revenge. Revenge on Megan's husband, who apparently drowned whilst on holiday but with no body recovered, Megan half expects him to turn up on her doorstep one day and therefore can't move on with her life.

The Wrong Turn is another fabulous page-turner from NC Marshall. The reader is drawn in from the very first page with believable characters that you care about, and with so many surprises thrown in you simply can't put this book down! A fast-paced gripping read that will leave you open mouthed and goose-bumpy as you turn the final page.

I chose to read an ARC and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
