Changed my paradigm of how I look at illness. The Moth in the Iron Lung,, by Forrest Maready, looks at the history of the epidemic of polio from the early 1900's until the 1960's in m much of the world. He talks us on a parallel ride showing. usage of certain pesticides (wi9th in much of the world are now banned) and the uptick in Polio.
Yes, there is an identified polio virus, but this shows a definite coinciding of much of the polio cases and the now banned pesticides. It also shows that where these pesticides are still being used, there is a large problem of polio within the population.
As I said, this book caused me to have a definite shift in my paradigm of diseases, especially in the modern world.… (mais)
