If you love the Jane Stickle Civil War quilt (aka "Dear Jane"), and you love quilts in those wild PA German colors, this book is for you. Salinda Rupp made her incredible quilt in Lancaster County somewhere around 1870. Like Jane Stickle's quilt, this one involves numerous small blocks, many of original design, with intricate piecing.

I have made only a few of the blocks, and the patterns I have attempted appear to be accurately drafted. General instructions are somewhat limited, but that should not be an obstacle - this is not a project for beginners in any case.

The author includes color photos of modern quilts inspired by the Salinda Rupp quilt, including some reproductions that capture the spirit of the original quilt. As in the "Dear Jane" book, the cover photo is interrupted by the spine. Those interested in creating a close replica of the Salinda Rupp quilt will be disappointed to find no color photos of individual blocks, but this quilt has been profiled in a variety of quilt history books. On the plus side, this book does not include "letters" to a long-dead quilter.
