With a fantastic beginning, a satisfying end, and a wonderful intricate middle this book kept me intrigued from page one. I loved the hero, Neil Macpherson. It’s clear from the start that he has a compassionate heart and healing skills. While Sofi doesn’t trust him initially she can see he’s helping her sister, Trina, recover from her father’s tragic death. Sofi has an amazing skill of her own. Her father taught her how to design bridges, but in a time when women were not allowed to work. When she sees the bridge she designed being put together with inferior materials, she is appalled. As Neil and Sofi grow closer, imminent danger threatens to pull them apart. Inspiring, interesting, and well worth reading.… (mais)

Finding Sarah, Finding Me is a poignant and riveting story of a birth mother’s tortuous search for the baby girl she gave away. However, when the mother and daughter meet some twenty years later, Christine is thrown into despair and uncertainty as she realizes the bond between them appears to have been severed. She reaches out to her God in hopes of finding solace and acceptance but finds her faith being tested at every turn. It is in revealing her own spiritual journey through her agony and heartache that we see the face of God in her life, including a special bond that develops with Sarah’s adoptive parents.

Though I have never been forced to give up a child, nor have I been adopted, the story affected me deeply as a mother. Each adoption reunion story is different and to that end, she skillfully weaves in the story of several other adoptees and their families. But the one thread that ties it all together is the enduring love of a mother for her child.

With raw honesty and heartfelt prose, Christine takes us on her personal spiritual journey through the heartache to a place of peace and acceptance. Preoccupied with finding Sarah, she often feels neglectful of her other three children and her loving husband as she struggles with her longing for her birth child. Any mother can relate and I can’t imagine the depth of pain she felt in having to give up this child.

This beautifully crafted memoir gave me a deeper understanding of adoption and all the issues surrounding it. In sharing her faith journey, she also gave testimony to the power of faith in overcoming and triumphing in the face of unbearable pain. This memoir will give hope to those seeking to find their birth parents or child. It will also help those who have not been adopted or had to give up a child to have a greater understanding of the adoption experience. I highly recommend it.

I was excited to begin reading this book. The author had described the history in such a way that my interest was peaked. I was not let down in reading this book. I immediately was drawn to Abby a young mom facing so many challenges and her want for love. I felt a relatable quality to her and have felt her struggle in faith. This book brought not only love, mystery, and faith together but it truly was a page turner that sets the reader on a quest for more in the series and for more out of their lives. Thank you for such a wonderful read and a message.… (mais)
