a serviceable book on Malawi, would be useful to let children know that fresh water isn't available in all parts of the world.

Gr 5-8-While, focusing more on the financial end of big business than on careers, this set briefly touches on jobs in several different industries. The timely and topical books explain the ins and outs, history, and future of different areas of commerce and highlight successful people in the various fields. This makes the volumes valuable right now for current material, but given the fast-changing nature of technology, entertainment, and other industries, some of them may not have a very long shelf life. Color photos, fact boxes, and text crowd the pages and the design features an ever-present image of money in the upper left corner. The set will be helpful for further research, for learning about an industry as a whole, and/or as an introduction to a study of economics… (mais)

There are 3 reasons why I like this book. First, it teaches about many different aspects of cerebral palsy from what it is to how it feels. It is a part of the Explaining… series, and each book in the series addresses a different disability and teaches about its important aspects. Second, the many text features included in this book make it interesting and visually appealing to the reader. The pages are full of bold headings and subheadings, highlighted sentences, photographs and captions, and case notes. These case notes describe a specific child with cerebral palsy and their particular situation relating to the topic addressed under that heading. They make the information presented in this book more relatable to the reader, providing them with a more personal experience to learn from. Third, I like that this book can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Although the reading level of this book would be about 5th or 6th grade, children and adults alike can learn and benefit from the information in this book. Overall, the big idea of this book is to teach about cerebral palsy.… (mais)

In my opinion the book “Explaining Cerebral Palsy” by Sarah Levete is an interesting informational book. The textual features are laid out in an orderly way making the charts and pictures easy to understand. For example, each page includes a picture and some sort of table with bolded vocabulary. Also, each picture contains a caption which helps readers truly understand what each picture is meant to show. For example, a picture that includes children of all different ethnic groups is captioned, “Cerebral palsy can affect anyone regardless of sex or ethnic background.” The big idea of this book is to educate students on cerebral palsy.… (mais)
