Zion's Landmark - Pequena biografia
- Co-compiled hymnal "Hymn & Tune Book for Use in Old School or Primitive Baptist Churches" with Silas H. Durand.
He became associate editor of Zion's Landmark, a church paper published at Wilson, North Carolina, in 1883, and editor in chief in 1920.
US Congressman. In 1889, he was an ordained Baptist minister when elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-first and Fifty-second Congresses, serving until 1893. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the ministry and served as pastor of the Primitive Baptist Church until his death.
