Perhaps not the most exciting of books, but it does give a very thorough description of how indexers work. There's a long discussion on "style," which points out why different indexers might take different approaches using the same material. The book is not a true course in indexing, but there's enough details for an interested reader to learn some basics and get some ideas for further training. I would have liked to have seen a bit more on using computers in indexing, but perhaps that's a bit of job protection as this book is targeted to editors and authors who might not opt for a human indexer if too many computer features were revealed.… (mais)
