A Love Affair With Hummus: Classic and Delicious Hummus Recipes by Rachel Lane
This book starts out with a table of contents where recipes are listed.
Intro material discusses things about hummus you may have wondered about. It's super healthy.
How to prepare them in different states.
Each recipe starts with a title and brief description about it. List of ingredients and you should be able to substitute for your healthier dietary needs: low fat, low sodium, low sugar and fresh vs canned items.
Directions are given. There are NO pictures and NO nutritional information.
The best ways to serve it are also highlighted at the end and how to store it.
Not much to this, but like the flavor combinations.

I read through this book today. I didn't realize at first it was 5 ingredient GOURMET recipes but when I got to a recipe requiring squid ink noodles and squid I re-read the cover. There's a few recipes I think I will try. Spicy Sausage and Tomato Soup is pretty basic but sounds good and this version of Egg Drop Soup with Leeks sounds yummy. There's a recipe for New Potato Salad with yogurt and horseradish that sounds really good.

Some of the recipes look a little more complicated than I feel up to at this time. Yes, even with only 5 ingredients! Most of the soups were pureed soup which I don't really care for. Some of the salads were a bit odd - Leek and Seaweed, Roasted Beet Salad with Preserved Lemon. Fun to look at, though. Every recipe has a picture.… (mais)

Whatever your delight, you'll find it here in The Golden Book of Baking: Over 300 Great Recipes. Filled with hundreds of scrumptious treats, you'll find recipes for classic sweets as well as something new. There's even a chapter on savory baking.

Recipes are organized into chapters by topic: Cookies, Bars, and Brownies, Small Cakes; Butter Cakes; Layer Cakes; Pies and Tarts; Pastries; Yeast Cakes; and Savories. There's also a detailed Index. Recipes that caught my eye include: Lemon Cheesecake Squares, Double Chocolate Pound Cake, Pineapple Upside-down Cake, Pecan Tartlets, Apple Crumble Kuchen, Spinach Quiche, Goat Cheese Parcels, & more.

This cookbook is fabulously illustrated with full color photos that will make your mouth water. Recipe directions are concise and clear; however, the steps are only separated by a dot. Numbered steps would have been a plus.

The Bottom Line: While this cookbook assumes previous baking know-how, everyone will want to pick it up, browse the recipes, and dream of sweet decadence. Highly recommended for bakers with intermediate to advanced skills. The only drawback to this book is that it does not lie flat while using it.
