fast paced, interesting story. I enjoyed reading this and getting caught up in the thrill of the chase for the story. Well written, and it kept moving, and kept my interest in the story. Thanks to NetGalley for providing a copy in exchange for my honest review.
I read about this book either in the New York Times or Washington Post and added it to my To Be Read list because it clearly was meant for me as it was described as a cross between GONE GIRL and THE NEWSROOM. It was a good book and I did enjoy it a lot. The voice of our protagonist is a good one and she is given enough depth to seem realistic. She even has flaws which is very important when reading so you aren't getting a simplistic perfect lead. I suspect I'll look for more books from Ms. Kovac in the future.… (mais)

I could have added 'mystery,' and police / law-enforcement as tags. #politics cannot help bleed through; the story is set in Washington D.C. The main focus is news and investigative journalism.
The main protagonist Virginia Knightly, is a gifted TV News producer. Virginia is a strong woman who has made her way to the top, and will never put 'the story,' on a back burner. She is ethical and tenacious.
Perhaps this is just my point of view, but the undercurrent of women's issues that are woven through the story speak the loudest to me.
The characters are realistic. The writing is excellent. Every word counts.

When I first saw the cover and title, I was thinking horror and homicide. There is homicide, intrigue and mystery. Suspense is #1.… (mais)
