The Westminster Shorter Catechism in Modern English being the first catechism that I have completely read, obviously I haven't realized the importance of a catechism--until I read this one. Catechisms give one the framework with which to approach questions that may be asked us. I was raised with the mantra that creeds and confessions do not save us, which is true, but the creeds and confessions do not claim this, but the creeds and confessions do show what does save us and helps us verbalize what we do believe.
This catechism, being written in modern English, is easy to read (I read it on my morning walks) and understand. My only concern is that it even modernizes the scriptural quotes embedded within the catechism without referencing which translation the editors used.… (mais)
