This book was written for you if you are seriously dating, engaged, newly married or married.

This book draws on many of the same principles and themes covered in pre-marital counseling, but he narrows it down to 12 important discussions you should have with your significant other before you tie the knot. Each section is meant to help you think through your relationship as you prepare for marriage and maybe even hit pause if you donÛªt see eye to eye on an important issue. He uses a traffic light analogy, green meaning you are ready to get married, yellow means slow down there are some things that need to be worked through and red means perhaps the relationship isn‰Ûªt meant to be.

Each chapter covers one major issue you may come across in marriage; such as finances, intimacy etc. I have only been married a few years and let me tell you these are definitely things you need to discuss! These topics are vital to finding unity in marriage. While they may seem trivial now, getting on the same page can have lasting benefits.

The author has years of experience working with Christian couples preparing for marriage. He also draws on his experience counseling couples who run into issues after the wedding day. I really appreciated the short case study examples he provides in each chapter. These examples make everything a bit more relatable. Each section also has a prayer point and discussion questions for you to go over with your significant other.

This book is well-written, gospel-centered, well-researched, easy to read and the perfect length to discuss with a mentor couple.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
