Karri Kadin

Outbreak by Karri Kadin is a story about the beginning of a viral apocalypse. Veronica is an ER nurse when belligerent type patients begin arriving at the hospital. Veronica is bitten on the hand by a patient and expects to die so she leaves to go home. When she arrived, she found her husband on his deathbed with signs of the virus racing through his body. On the television, she learns of an evacuation site and gathers supplies for the trip. Zombies are attacking the neighbors and Veronica rescues the dog from next door. We never do learn much about him except he's large and is very protective of Veronica. En route, she finds humans to be more dangerous than the dead zombies. The journey is a perilous one. Will she and the dog make it?

Remarkably, she is not showing any signs of the infection, her hand continues to heal and she is not suffering any effects of the virus. Is she immune?

The story is short and could have been more descriptive in the telling of the tale. There is a cliffhanger at the end and the story ends too quickly.… (mais)
