As someone with a passion for geese and a small gaggle of my own stumbling upon this book it was pretty much a no brainer to buy and read. Who wouldn't want to read the experiences of someone sharing your passion half a century beforehand?

The book's opening line does a very good job of describing the content within; "This is neither a practical guide for those who wish to make money from geese, nor the work of a professional naturalist: but I have seen something and tried to tell what I saw in a plain way..." in other words, it's a book of one woman's passion for her geese and her experiences raising them in post war England.

It covers general geese raising, experiences within the community and break down of a calendar year of geese life.

An avid gozzard may be most interested in the Hamish Hamilton, London 1960 First Edition which includes numerous black & white plates of the authors geese.

At any rate, it's a great read.… (mais)
