A great physical geology manual. The material was explained well, and the questions were thought-provoking, not just a bunch of measurements and calculations. The visual aids were very helpful and most of the exercises were pretty fun. (In my class, there was some competition on who could plot the shortest route on a topographical map, given the maximum slope of a hypothetical vehicle.)

I recommend that if you have to get this book for a Geology class, you buy it. The book has a robust set of questions, enabling the educator to trim questions from a topic they don’t want to need to discuss as much, or unleash the full fury of the book for a topic they wish to highlight. Our class did not do every chapter, and I will be using it for personal study.

The book’s website has many helpful links, extra quizzes and guides, virtual field trips, and relevant agencies for students who are struggling or want to know more about a topic.

I would get this book again, and some of my classmates who rented the book are considering purchasing it.
