The value and the flaw of Resistance and Conformity is that it isn't an essay in the traditional sense, but an anthology of sources briefly commented by the author.
The documentary evidences are interesting, although they derive in some cases from books I've already read. Housden's comments, on the other hand , seem to me shallow, useful only as a link between two documents and - that is the worse - based on a "pathological" vision of the history that's too simplistic:
"In the final analysis, when we try to explain why people conformed to National Socialism, we are grappling with something that remains abnormal, something that we are still in the process of trying to understand." (p. 21)… (mais)
