Sarah Sargeant is a 29 soon to be 30 (horror!) woman who works as a waitress but is actually an actress who is desparing of ever finding the right man.

So after unsucessfully applying to take part in a reality dating show she decides to start a blog where she will challenging herself to test 50 ways to find a guy. I know one of them was speed dating because after that I started to skim the book but I dont think she ever tried 50 different ways.

The author tries to make her main character quirky and funny but she just ended up making her come across as obnoxious and with a dirty mind and mouth. I felt very prude reading some of her inner monologues. She is also very insulting and bitter about other women. Wich didnt help in endearing myself to me

"Why is she so pretty and talented?! Not fair?" Or thinking that another woman "could have been beautiful if not for her big nose.

I think the mystery of why she was single isnt such a big mystery. But of course in the end she finds true love. Yes life is strange.

I sort of suspected who she would end up with eventually though. And if you have ever seen a romantic comedy and starts to read this book you will too.

Its the best guy friend

Maybe I spoiled myself by looking at the rating before reading but I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed. I found it difficult to connect with any of the characters and felt the main character in particular was a little too much of a caricature. I also had trouble reconciling the characters ages with their behaviour. I think I might have found Fanny a little less ridiculous if she was pitched as a 23-25 year old rather than 27.

The mother/daughter story was a highlight despite the ending feeling a little rushed. The romance fell flat for me. I don't think I swooned once and cringed a few too many times for it to warrant 4 stars.

On a positive note, it is an easy read which draws you in and the quirky humour certainly made me smile at times.
