Goodbye Ted de Jack Hibberd
Ted is a 20 year veteran of the Traran football club, a small community club in western Victoria. Club officials, supporters and a new star recruit gather for a testimonial dinner for Ted amid allegations of embezzlement of club finances which puts Ted’s golden handshake payment at risk. A comedic football farce in the tradition of Hibberd’s most well-known play Dimboola. First performed in April 1975.
This dictionary was styled as a ‘glossary of sporting terms, jargon and slang that enjoy currency in Australia' and includes a great number of Aussie Rules terms, as well as prominent terms used in various codes of football played throughout the nation. Each term is identified by an abbreviated code, such as 'AR' for Australian Rules football. Some archaic words are included, with most terms in common use at the time of publication.
