Kuwana Haulsey

I started reading this book shortly after receiving it for Early Reviewers, but was put off by the adult thoughts and motives the author ascribes to her unborn child (like the notion that a baby knows how to be born, or that newborns are masters of life. It just seems ridiculous. However, I picked it up again recently, and found renewed interest. The parts about how motherhood affects marriage, and particularly the flashback to her year living in Kenya, are worth reading. She had a remarkable experience there, and a sense of confidence, purpose and destiny. Her re-adjustment to American ways and how our society, and just the phenomenon of growing older, blurs that clarity and confidence, is very thought-provoking.… (mais)

It took me awhile to actually read this book. I have had it in my to to read pile for over a month, the title put me off from it. Once I did pick it up and read it I found it very insightful and I appreciated the authors personal story and journey. The balance between spiritual insight and personal anecdote was perfectly crafted. I found this book very engaging and would recommend it to anyone, but particularly those pregnant or with young children. It provides a way of viewing parenting and perception of being that is helpful and enlightening.… (mais)
