I cannot even begin to say how haunting this book is. Haskin survived something most of us would crumble under, myself included. I finished this book in one evening as it was a short book, but the book continued to haunt my dreams for the next few nights. Simply the best, most graphic book about the tragedy at the World Trade Center I have ever read! If you weren't there, and you are curious as to what it was like to be right there in the center of it all, read this book. Ms. Haskin will be glad to take you there!!!… (mais)

Despite the flowery and at times over-descriptive writing, this book manages to share with the reader the horror of 9/11. The author takes us from her commute into NYC to her escape from Tower One, to her arrival, several hours later, home.

NCLA Review - Leslie Haskin is a survivor of 9/11 and active in outreach ministry. This is a feel-good book about God’s love and grace. For those who are more cerebral and worldly, it may seem fluffy at times. But a steady diet of problems leads to burn-out. It might be good for such people to be exposed to something more spiritual once in a while. Those who are emotional and experiential will probably say “Amen” at the end of each chapter. This book is a mix of stories about actual happenings, stories that the author has written and exposition about God’s role in our lives. I think it is a good book although it might be hard for some people to see the value. Rating: 3 —JC… (mais)

NCLA Review -A survivor of 9-11, the author overcame Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome which sent her to the depths of despair and almost deprived her of her sanity. Prior to the event, she had been a successful executive. She lost it all. She boarded her windows and feared terrorists were lurking in her garden shed. Then she prayed and her healing began. Held tells of her trust that God is greater than our limited understanding, and of the amazing grace that made her understand that life is worth living. Ms. Haskins writes from her soul. God must have guided her as she poured out her heart to the reader. The book is tremendously inspiring and helpful to anyone facing severe life difficulties or loss. Every church library should have a copy. Two copies would be better. Rating: 4 —EB… (mais)
