I have a great fondness books from the earlier part of the 20th century, partly because I imagine them as part of the atmosphere in which my grandmother, and my mother and father grew up. So I'm not sure everyone would find this as engaging as I do. But it is written at a level which would be a college text now, is illustrated with pertinent cartoons, drawings, charts and graphs, reproductions of paintings and photographs, and is notable for its last section:Problems of Our Time. Since fewer people went on to college at the time, there were more serious efforts to inform people for whom this might be all the education they'd ever get.… (mais)
