Rosa Parks believed in equality for everyone and was not afraid to show it. She finished highschool when she was 21 because her family members became sick. I like how to book explains what segregation is with examples. It speaks of how blacks and whites attended different schools, sit on different parks of the bus, and having different water fountains. There was so much hate during this time and sometimes violence. Parks wanted this to end. So her and many others used nonviolent resistance during the civil rights movement. The activists wanted to lead a boycott of the segregated bus lines. The leaders of the movement waned Parks to be the face of the boycott. While on her way to home, she refused to give up her seat to a white person. In turn, she was arrested for breaking a segregation law. Martin Luther King Jr. met with the activists to plan the bus boycott. They were to walk and carpool instead of taking the bus. After a little over a year, the court decided to make segregation busses illegal. This shows that by working together with the right people, you can accomplish great things.… (mais)

Although short, this book was jam packed with stuff. I know that you cannot pass up on engineering when it comes to science. This book was all about wheels and axles and simple machines. My favorite part about the book was the vocabulary it used. It used words such as effort, force, fulcrum, lever, and output. It is a great book for not only teaching new vocabulary, but also for getting us ready to learn from the Engineering practices of the NGSS. I loved this book for its pictures and clear, easy to understand, language.… (mais)
