On the re-release of his science book Genesis, he is interviewed for a newspaper by a colleague of one of his friends. Unfortunately, he doesn't like the results - which focus on the loss of his family, his pared down empty house, and the fact that he comes across as a very intense anti-religion scientist who could be compared to the worst of the evangelicals in the American Bible Belt.[return][return]The rest of the book is Max's attempt to explain where he has come from, what he believes and why it look like he has lost everything.[return][return]On the whole it was a good book, but I did feel a bit bogged down in some of the discussions/conversations about the nature of science and God. The intensity and heaviness (I suspect this was done on purpose to demonstrate Max and the problems his family face!) is exactly the type of thing that makes me walk away from this type of situation or person. [return][return]Found it good that when someone disappeared for a bit, then there was no "filling in" of what went on, unless it was necessary to the plot. Some times you dont know and never know what really goes on, so there can be a gap.… (mais)
