Summary: This is a great book to explain what exactly fires are and how than can be started. This book also explains the different types of fires and how some fires are good for the ecosystem. Along with explaining what fires are they explain how they are prevented and can be stopped.
Personal reaction: This was a simple very explanatory book of what fires are and how they can be caused. Also, it explains the benefits and downfalls to fires. I enjoyed this book and would find it very useful to teach children about fires.
Classroom Extentions: This book would be a great book to use to teach children about wildlife along with the dangers of fire. it would also be a great book to use to teach about ecosystems.

This is a great book to learn all about humpback whales. There are great pictures. At the end of the book, there is a glossary for vocabulary words. There also is a list of websites and humpback whale quick facts. I would recommend this book to teachers who are teaching about marine life.

A great informational book explaining in great details about what a volcano is made of. Volcanoes are made of rock, ash and lava. It explains why a volcano erupts? The different section of a volcano and what happens when a volcano erupts. Different hot spots you can find volcanoes located. But of course to get those answers you have to read the book.

I read this book to 6-9 year olds. Because one of the students had a book reports do on volcanoes. And she needs someone to explain some of the things to her in the book. So I sat everyone down and I read the Volcano book to them. There were kids how enjoyed the reading time, because they are old enough to read by themselves some kids don’t get the opportunity for someone to read to them. While other just sat there and listen just so they could get dismiss faster to go play in centers.

The only activity I advise them to do was once a week pick a topic and organize a list of different books they enjoy reading. So they can start reading to each other in groups. So if someone has another report do maybe that book will be the one they read aloud. I understand that some kids understand it better when they read aloud too versus silent reading.
