Breakaway is a story about a girl who was gang raped when she was younger and the ice hockey player she asks for help to overcome her recurring panic attacks. Dana was an interesting character -a bit naive but obviously understandable. I liked the way the relationship between Eric and Dana unfolded, although at times I found it annoying that Dana didn't just say what was on her mind. Eric was a great character, very devoted, loyal and understanding. He wasn't pushy and he just wanted to help Dana overcome her fears. Soupy was kind of a jerk for the whole book, I would've liked him to be more accepting of all the good Eric had done. I liked the female characters and the lack of bitchiness - just total understanding and caring. Babs was a great character and I liked Katie's crush on him. I'll be picking up the rest of the series to see what happens next.… (mais)

I am so, so sad to not get Jo and Leith’s story! I’m so curious about what’s happened between them. But the author’s website is gone, so I guess I will never know why she holds him at arm’s length

LOVED Tabitha. Had all the insecurity that I appreciate in my favorite themes (chubby spinster) while still managing to have decent gender roles, at least compared to some other HRs.

First read May 2012 I think - reviews stands up to re-reading. Not terribly interested in Pariah (reviews indicate it is terribly G-rated, and I suspect it is about a single mom, which doesn't interest me), but I am looking forward to Shelved! If it ever comes out…

Rereread 2021 - WHY did it not occur to Noah and Leith to just tell Tabitha to watch out for Oglethorpe? Like, I get not telling her brothers about the bet, but for the love of god, not telling HER that someone was planning to sexually assault her is kinda effed up.… (mais)

This was pretty good. I liked the OTT way that the heroine treated her daughter because I think you would react that way. I liked the hero and how he fell in love with her. All in all a pretty nice story. One of the strong points of this series is the immersion you feel in the hockey world. I like the scenes on ice even if they are a little too in depth for a romance novel. One of the things that irks me a bit after having read five books of this series is that all the people involved in this hockey team love and support each other. I mean that's a good sentiment and something to strive for but it's unrealistic that they are all such great buds and BFFs. That's just totally unrealistic. A little conflict within the team would be realistic and drive interesting conflict.… (mais)
