Viola French

First published during the 1940s this book is dated but still beautiful and provides fascinating insight into the fashions, figures and fabrics that were popular at the time.

I don't know if the haute couture shape has changed significantly in the last 60 plus years but Viola French shows us how to draw a realistically proportioned figure then how to alter it for fashion illustration - ie, elongated legs, narrower waist, etc etc. She also shows how to creature the feeling of different fabrics by judicious use of a pencil.

This really is an easy to follow 'How to' book for the complete amateur - very impressive indeed!… (mais)
